I bought my OH one like this for his birthday,it clips on the monitor or a shelf and has audio. The audio was perfectly okay for skype. You do get a better picture in a well lit area . Skype is free to download and free to use for computer to computer calls but you would have to pay to call a telephone with it. You can also type in a chatbox if you dont have audio.

No; webcam use is free - using Live messenger or skype PC->PC is free, using skype (or any other VOIP firm) will cost you something to call a regular landline or mobile

I haven't used VOIP in years but last time I did there were companies like VOIPcheap and VOIPbuster etc where you simply put in €10 credit or something and landline calls within the UK were charged at 0p/min, i.e. free. And pretty much ANY VOIP service you looked at was cheaper than skype.

Thanks for the tip, but I have a landline I can use to make free calls to other phones on. My VOIP stuff is purely PC to PC so again is all free!
