SKY Channel Fault

I was wondering if anyone else is getting problems with the SKY channels. I am on the Pay Once View forever scheme which ended in February. Since then everything is fine until three days ago when I got the following message
FOR YOUR INFORMATION THERE IS A TECHNICAL FAULT WITH THIS CHANNEL PLEASE TRY LATER

I would be happier if I knew it was a universal fault but SKY aren't the quickest company to respond to anything

I am living in the Cambridgeshire area Thanks in advance

Have you tried turning the box off at the mains and wait 30 seconds and then try again.

Have you tried taking the viewing card out and trying the box without the viewing card and then try again with the card?

Area doesn't really come into it, as the satellite is up in the Sky, only really matters if a tall building right in front of your dish has suddenly popped up, or a mountain has popped out the ground or a large tree has grown leaves and is in the way of the dish, as long as you have the correct dish size for the area.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Hi Nytehawk,

the advice from BexTech is good but I believe the 'official' Sky procedure is to turn the box off at the wall for 10 seconds. Then turn the wall socket back on but DONT turn the box itself on for 60 seconds. After this turn the box on.

Have you got Sky+? If so have you got the Thompson Sky+ box? My dad gets the error you describe every time he turns on his Thompson Sky+ for about 5 seconds then it resumes normal viewing. According to some research on the internet this is a known firmware fault with this box.

    Hope this helps

Give SKY a call, their technical department can connect to your box via a code that the box generates that they will ask you to do.
From this they can diagnose faults and send an engineer ect.

PS look online for a cheaper number to call them on via saynoto0870.com
