Acer laptop battery: a probelm?

Looking at some laptops and I came across some history of people saying that Acer laptops overheated, eventually leading to the battery failing, no power etc etc is that 'history' still an issue with Acer?

Cheers

    Hi,

I have a Acer 5310, the spec says it runs for a bout 2 hours on battery but i have not tested it.

I checked out Acer before I bought it. A few years ago there was a problem with batteries but not now. about 18 months ago they got a big contract (about a million units) to supply a Wal Mart special in the USA so they completely revamped the designs and specs, everything has been ok from then on, the new white keyboard ones are based on the Wal Mart ones.

The other thing to look for is the same model numbers have different specs, mine is a 5310 with 2GB of Ram & Vista Premium from Tescos, the same model at Comet & Play is only 1GB and Vista basic.

Cheers Keith - what I was beginning to get an understanding of, seems to be something to do with Sony produced batteries that had to be recalled (not just Acer). There was one famous story of a laptop exploding during a presentation at a Conference! you are right about the variety of specs but I have seen one that looks too good turn down.

    Cheers
