Hope someone can help me. Ive got a bit of an aged laptop, a bit slow running but not had any problems with it so far.
Last night I ripped a cd onto the hard drive to put onto my ipod, and it was fine, but today when ive come on, all of the music I had on my hard drive has disappeared, and half of the tracks i ripped yesterday have gone as well??
I have absolutely no idea what this is, nothing else is missing from my hard drive, just the music?? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance x

You're not giving away much here in the way of info about what software you're using, so any suggestions will probably only be a bit vague - for example:
Is it possible that your hard disk is on the way out? This seems unlikely, because it would more typically generate file errors than lose complete files. Run chkdsk (assuming OS is Windows) on it if you haven't already.
Perhaps the files are there but have the "hidden" attribute set. Seems a bit unlikely. There's an option to show hidden files in Windows Explorer to check that.
Perhaps some software has moved the files somewhere unexpected? Search for all files created/modified yesterday and see if they are found somewhere you weren't looking.
Perhaps something has moved them to the Wastebin - have you looked there?
Perhaps your OH has sneaked in and moved files around for a larf?
Ok, I'm out of ideas for now...0 -
OT, but if you have less than 512MB of ram and XP, a ram upgrade will make all the difference. www.crucial.com/uk
speedwise.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
