I am doing a carboot next weekend with a mate (guess it will be in May so any monies raised can be included in the £10 a day May challenge:j ). I havent done a carboot before although I have seen them on the telly and visited a few to buy stuff. Anyone got any tips, I have lots of plastic bags but dont know what sort of money I should take with me as a float - any ideas?
my tip would be take someone with you!

i did one last year when my parents were on hol and no one else would get up early to come so it was just me, you have to have eyes in the back of your head! i had loads of people all asking me questions at the same and someone even tried to buy the money box i had all my cash in!!!! try to go on a sunny day too it rained when i went and everyone went home early.

    with regard to ebay:

i sold my old mobile on therea couple of weeks ago as i bought myself a new one for my birthday. granted i only sold it for about 40 quid but its better than nowt! the user who won it was flippin 0 feedback, who had just joined that day and suprising didnt pay!!! ive had to wait a week to report it unpaid and then another week to wait for a response (which there hasnt been!) to get my fees back! fingers crossed i might eventually get them back tomorrow :(

    another thing...

a lot of my money this month has take a looooong time to hit my bank ( thank u speedferries!) so all the items that haven't hit my bank acc have been removed from my total in my sig so its gone down a canny bit!!! i'll add them back if i get them before the end of the month... or they'll just go onto may...either way i'm not gonna hit target :( booooohoooo

    Thanks guys!

I'm actually a bit calmer now, he's not going to get away with anything - Batigrl: I think it may end up ruining it for him, at least for a while! Abusing the system, not listening to me, sending the wrong currency in the wrong amount, hmmmm. Stioll no reply from him and usually he replies right away. If I don't hear back by tomorrow I'm going to let him know he's been reported, if there's still no reply he's going to get a big red! (I'm not looking forward to the new feedback rules, leaves me wide open to nutters like him with no repercussion for him!)

I LOVE ebay and in my four years of business selling I've only had a few nutters (This one included)

SO PLEASE DON'T BE PUT OFF BY MY RANT ABOVE!

In fact I'm going to edit it down as ebay is a FANTASTIC way to make money, even with them putting up their fees - just look at the "what did you sell that you thought you couldn't" or whatever it's called thread here on the dfw board and my previous post of how I achieved my total just shows it!

The good ebayers DEFINITLEY outweigh the bad.

Aaaaaannnnnddd, once I calmed down and realised I was getting to worked up, I've managed to get listing again in prep for next months challenge :)

Oh dear, sounds like people haven't been having the best weekend!

Debtbegone, poor you! It's always Americans, isn't it?! Did Ebay not introduce something recently about feedback beng removed if the buyer is suspended within 90 days of joining? File a NPB and see if you can help suspend him! His negative might not put anyone off buying from you, but it will greatly delay your return to 100% (I had one neg, from an American no surprise, so 99.9% but when I reached about 3,000 FB it got rounded back up to 100%).

Nonudo, glad to hear you're still around searching for your cutlery! Ta loads of the tip about writers share, I'd heard it mentioned but not found the time to check it out. Had a good look, and it's definitely interestin, but maybe I'm stupid but can't find anywhere to sign up? Or do you just enter your Paypal address every time without signing in?

Helen 79, I totally agree with you on slicethepie, I'm stuck at 70-odd pence as well. I think it's one of these things you either love or hate and I hate! I can never think of anything different or interesting to say, although I can now type the word 'cacophony' very quickly!

Puzzledbubbles, WTG! Good luck for keeping quitted!

Come on guys, one last push (as a midwife recently said to me!) and we'll be at the end of the month and ready to get stuck into May.

Thanks Pandapaws - I would normally and I'm kicking myself I didn't do it on Friday when I knew there was serious trouble brewing (I should know better by now!) But now since he's opened an item not received dispute I can't do anything! Emailed him and ebay to report him, but doubt they'll do much!

Horace - did a wee search just now and there's some GREAT carboot advice here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=527459 and some more here

    Hope that helps!

That's a bit harsh of Ebay! Didn't realise that if someone filed a Not Received, you couldn't file a Not Paid. How does that make sense?

My couple of items on Ebay didn't sell :( I'm rather gutted as I haven't used Ebay for ages and was encouraged by everyone's enthusiasm. I have relisted, but I'm assuming they won't go again. <sigh> Planning on listing my broken camera on for next months challenge, and seeing how that goes.

I sold a book on Amazon, woohoo! I will add that when I work out how much it's going to cost to post.

I will add the 2p I found on the street though :o
