Didn't know whether to put this in here or the vent board but here goes!
Was looking to hire a Luton van with a tail lift for the weekend to help my brother move house and had a few things needing shifting myself and www.budget4u.co.uk came up the cheapest at £115 fully inclusive(waivers etc) for the weekend (Sat morn to Mon morn, rental office closed Sun).
Rang up the rental office in question to see what the deposit was on the van as the was no mention on the website and was told it was £500 and the price for the weekend was definiately £115.Went back to book on the website and it was down for maintenance so booked the van through the rental office. Much to my surprise I was given an invoice to sign for £270.25( which included £131.99 rental per day,£16 waiver fees!) after arguing with the little man  for what seemed forever I was told that they were a franchise for Budget rentacar and could charge whatever they like!!!!!!!!
I had to take the van as my brother was outside his house with all his belongings,so I told the little man I would take it up with head office as it was no way to treat customers.
So imagine my surprise when the day after the van had gone back intact, I had £770.25 removed from my account!! Phoned Head Office and was told it was company policy to take the deposit from my account with the payment and the deposit would be back in my account within 10 days!!!!!!!!!!! I was livid as the money had taken me over my overdraft  Lodged a formal complaint with Budget on all counts (overcharging etc) and was told it was company policy to get a reply within 10 days, guess what, I didn't so ended up ringing them back and had no apology and was told because I signed the rental agreement there was nothing they would do and verbal agreement over the telephone was no good and in future I should book over the internet or through the dedicated phone service!
I am not letting this go I will be taking further I am not a happy bunny
So DO NOT use this company
Rant over!
