PrePayment meter seems to be costing a fortune
Hi,
I have been reading the forum with some interest, to see others comments about prepayment key (and gas card) meters, as mine seems to be costing alot. On average I am spending over £1.50 a day on electricity, sometimes more and this is just in the summer (Our heating and water heating is Gas BTW).
I have a fairly small 1 bedroom flat, and I was wondering whether others have made the change from these meters to normal payment by direct debit and saved a good deal?
When I lived in a shared flat with 3 other people our combined costs, with electric heating and electric water heating was never this much.
Anyone got any good results from changing?
If I can't get it down then I might as well change to a green supplier, would be excellent to do both.

Thats very high, I have a 2 bedroom house and we (4 of us) use about 70-80p a day in electricity on a prepayment meter.
Are you running anything like an electric immersion heater or a little electric heater ?, these eat electric.
It might be worth getting the electric company to check the meter as it sounds like a possible fault to me , is their anyway some one could be using your electric ?I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Well I do have 3 computers that is probably a good reason that I am getting though quite abit.0

Try Ebico for an ethical stance, they charge the same regardless of payment method. They also come out around the cheapest:

I have an Electric key meter and i put in £10 every two weeks (£20 a month) I also put in £10 every two weeks on my Gas card meter (£20 per month), although i'd suspect with the Gas I would put more in during the summer.
I have a 3 bedroom house and it's just me and 3 kids, so yes it seems you are paying way too much, get the meter checked out..you never know if it's faulty you may get a rebate..0
