I agree - no bargains to be had in Mr T's here yesterday, nor Asda either - just a few pence off. However, OS MUST be working because I put a few bits & bobs in my trolley - then put them back. Not really bargains you see!

Ifonlyitwereeasier - Will post the mango chutney recipe later on but be warned - it's addictive - very fresh tasting (doh!) & not so sweet as the bottled variety...

I stopped eating dairy for medical reasons andhave to say I have Alpro Soya as I think the taste is FAR Better than ANY of the others. I now don't buy yogurts (and I used to have a lot) and don't buy cheese as much either so I figure that the extra for Alpro isn't really as I am saving on other products (And I buy the longlife UHT stuff so it doesn't go off)

i agree faye alprolight is the best tasting soya milk and i use that in tea and on cereals etc but i do loads of baking and with DD being vegan i prefer to do as many cakes etc vegan so we can all share, theirfore the cheap soya milk is ideal for that as you dont really taste it. weve used the cheap one it tea but you need to shake it well as it gets a bit thick and has residue near the bottom

BTW alpro do a nice range of yogurt and mousse type dairy free desserts

Well, have spent £46 so far and don't feel I have much meal-wise. I have quite a lot of home made soup in the freezer though, and some spag bol, both meat and TVP. I have ordered an organic veg box which will be delivered next Wed so at least that is paid for. This will be our 2nd one - I was really impressed with the first.
I'm off to read back through the thread for inspiration

  • I have used the oats in mince tip this week-thanks very much. It made a really nice spag bol.
last night we had our organic steak. Decided to cut into thin strips, fry with mushrooms, onions and peppers and seasoning. I served it on some french bread with wedges. for pud, we had fresh strawberries and organic yoghurt. It was lovely-such a bargain!
I have now loads of meat left to use up and i always used to make it go a fair way, but it will go even further now.
    Thanks for all the suggestions.
