    Hi there Mandy_moo_1

    here you go:-

    CHEWY SOFT FLOUR TORTILLA
2 CUPS PLAIN FLOUR about 240g
    1 ½ TSP BAKING POWDER
    1TSP SALT
    2TSP VEG OIL
    ¾ CUP WARM MILK -180ml

Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl
    Whisk milk, oil and salt
Pour into flour -stirring to mix
Once mixed -turned out onto a lightly floured worktop and knead for 2 mins
Cover and leave for 15 mins -it won’t rise but needs to relax
Cut into 8 balls (approx 50g each)
Cover and leave to relax for 10 mins
Roll each one out into a round -approx 8”
Heat a heavy frying pan (preferably cast iron)
Drop in one tortilla and turn after about 2 mins -the surface should bubble -press down with a teatowel (watch you don't steam your fingers;) )
Place inside a dry tea towel to keep warm whilst you cook the rest

You can freeze the balls of dough -but they will be a little stickier once defrosted -but as a bonus they roll out bigger too :T

    Jules...welcome on board :T

I do not believe this! FOUR times I have tried to post, and FOUR times my connection has been lost while doing it!

Fifth time lucky? It's a four week month still for us, going by pay dates, so will aim at £500 again. Came close in March. Did shopping yesterday, £103, but still need fishfingers and bread. But have at least 12 days worth of meat, so that's not bad.
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000

Some more great recipes.....I'm trying to keep track cuz they all sound mmmmm:p

I had to laugh when I went into Somerfield the other day wiv me muvva & persuading her to buy the whoopsied pie thingy she likes----it was going into the freezer so what difference did it make to the date on the packet:confused:
but I suddenly felt like Ethan Hawke from Mission:Impossible as I slid up to the bright yellow stickers so as not to advertise they were there:rotfl: :rotfl: All the talk last month of heat seeking missiles had "Bandits!2 o'clock! Lock & load!" & those cross hair targets popping into my mind's eye....certainly made the shopping more fun:D

Awww---can I come with you Bees? My dad grew up in Bishops Taunton & his brother lived in Bude so many happy years summer holidays were spent in your neck of the woods:o Do they still have the local market in the Town Hall in Barnstaple? & that big white glove that comes out of the window above?

My meals & baking will be very basic for a few days cuz we've to re-design our lounge for new furniture being delivered on Tuesday, so it's probably
    • cold chicken & HM wedges
    • chicken casserole & rice
    • try & squeeze out a chicken & bacon dish too
Might have to succumb to the mighty take-away for Tuesday dependant on when the delivery actually arrives & how long it takes to get straight.... delivery 12-6pm/No2 out to work 2:45pm/ No1 home from work 5:45pm/ No2 home for break 7pm.....mum in bed a quivvering wreck under the quilt.. priceless:rotfl:

well Ive just done a asda online shop which should come in at 30.78. Its a pain that you have to spend £25 min and then theres a delivery charge (no coupons unless you spend over £50) but seeing as asda is 20 miles away Id spend the £4 delivery charge in petrol getting there and back and Id probably spend way more than £25 in store:o

So Ive stocked up on tin toms and store cupboard staples to get the total up to the min order amount.
So apart from fruit and milk(which I will get as and when I need it) fingers crossed this little top up shop should now see me through the month with what I already have:T

I've just watched the video about the southern fried shicken and I think it might work quite well with a packet of parsley and thyme stuffing mix with some garlic and cayenne added. Those of us on this side of the pond have got used to breadcrummy coatings rather thatn flour i think.
When I was in the US the family I stayed with always used cornflake crumbs on their 'fried' chicken and baked it in the oven. I think used the stuffing mix would make it more oven friendly - and also less fat.:j

    hi JayJay

That sounds like good idea.... I never fry anything...never owned a chip pan/deepfat fryer :p
Im just going to pinch their herbs n spices bit ....use some of my breadcrumbs up out of the freezer and i also save the bits out of my Krisproll cracker things too -extra crunch :rotfl: and wang it in the oven..cross my fingers and hope :D ..i don't buy stuffing mix..so i will "concoct" as usual:p

Have just shoved the jackets in the oven.. and par steamed the carrots, leeks n broccoli and made a sauce -using that irritating lump of rind you get left with from the parmesan... just throw it into the milk whilst its warming...takes quite a while but you are just left with the bit of rind.. whacked in seasoning and mustard and thickened with cornflour.. then i just have to use an ickle bit of cheddar when it goes in the oven :j and it has made to lots so i have stuck one in the fridge to have with tomorrows chicken n roasties :T
hope everyone has a good weekend :D ..of to read through my recipes ;)

not sure how gross and icky you'll think this is, but when I made my home meade faggoty meat loaves the other day, I hadn't made enough breadcrumbs, so me and DH tipped them out of that little tray at the bottom of the toaster to bulk out the recipe! OS or what?!
