Hi there folks, and thanks in advance for your help.
My niece is moving to Canada in a few weeks and we have decided to get her a digital photo frame so that she won't forget us!
However I know the electricity supply is different over there so don't want to buy something that won't work. Could anyone shed any light on whether they will work over there? Have looked on various websites and a various specs and am still in the dark!
thanks again

Mine has small external PSU box (not the wall wart type) such that a mains lead with a figure 8 connector plugs to the PSU. and the PSU states suitable for 100-240 volts and it came with a number of differnet mains leads.
With that sort of design its fairly common for them to be multi voltage, but if it was to have one with the 3 pin plug built in, then less likely to be multi voltage.
Anyway the frame will only want a few DC volts, so sure you could source another general purpose external psu locally to suit if reqd
All this sort of stuff made in China/Tawian for worldwide market, just so much easier for them to make one product for the whole world nowadays.
But thats all generalisation really and your milage may vary0 -
Thanks for your reply bob, could i just ask you a couple of things...
PSU box ? do you mean that the plug into a jack which leads to a box, which then goes to a plug socket(sorry for being as clear as mud)?
Is there any particular frame you could recommend - looking to spend no more than 60 quid ish.0 -
re PSU I think thats what I mean
check the picture , so you can either get the local lead to plug from PSU to mains, or get a local PSU to plug in to DC connector of frame
I have this one, its a little over your price indication
But it does have a higher resolution (720x480) than the more common 7" ones(480x234), and the image quality difference is noticable and the screen is bigger! (I have both types)
The big downside of the Linx one it that if you switch it on it won't autostart showing the pictures, you have to press a couple of buttons on the remote
(see amazon reviews) - so might not suit the technophobes
Unfortunatly, none of the spec info written about these type of product will specify if it has that feature or not - AFAIK
Have a look at my thread here about how to handle the images for the frame

look here and here for a good selection0
