Property Deed In The Wrong Hands

hi,
i have just found out today that my deed was sent to a property am renting out. although i had arranged for a redirection, this somehow managed to slip through and now it is in the hands of tenants who am also taking to court for non payment of rent.
i just want to know what someone can be cappable of doing with a deed as there is now identify thefty and fraud.
i have also noticed recently that i cant be given credit from main banks although some time back they are the ones that were coming to me with loans af all sorts.
could the tenant have done something to damage my credit rating.
i know i have missed one or two credit card payments but but i feel as though something else could be happening with my credit score.

i do not understand which "deed" you are talking about - "Deeds to a property" are no longer required as all house purchases nowadays are done electronically at the Land Registry.

if you have missed credit card payments this will certainly affect your credit rating. why not apply to equifax and experian to get copies of your credit rating then you will see what is going on.

i meant registration documents. the ones that get sent by solictors after complition of purchase. the solictor has said to me they sent them to be lenders and myself but obviously mine were got by the tenants

As I far I know it is the printout of the title from the Land Registry. It would mean that the proprietor address registered with Land Registry should be changed to your current address.

If the tenants so wished they could pretend to be you and request changes to the title and Land Registry would sent them (you) a letter to that address for them to sign as confirmation.
Who knows if they check the electoral role for confirmation of identity ?
Ring Land Registry http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/ and ask them what to do.

if you have bought a BTL mortgage why is the lender/solicitor/esate agents etc not writing to you at the place you are living in ?

royalmail redirection is never 100%, you should always ensure important correspondance has note of your current address.

If a dodgy tenant knew you were registered at what is their address, they could easily take credit cards out at that address. From the deeds they would know the name of your lender and could use that for ID.
