If you're buying a PC from somewhere with an OEM disc your eally ought to get it pre-installed. It's only worht not doing that if you can get a cheap Retail copy from somewhere. It's my problem, it's my problem

OK. Been to Novatech and got box replaced. It's exactly the same but with a slightly faster processor (the model I got on Tuesday has been replaced with this new model spec is identical other than the processor) :T
My question is....will my xp cd work as Davy suggested? ie the disc wont know the difference. If that fails, gonna try phoning Microsoft.
Thanks once again and apologies for being a bit dumb

Did you actually activate it with Microsoft when you installed it before? If not you'll be fine,if you did you'll probably have to phone them. Just explain it was on a PC and there was a hardware issue and you had to get it replaced. You should be fine. If it is definately only the CPU that is different you coudl just syat the CPU packed in and you had to replace that. It's my problem, it's my problem
