2nd Chance...What would you do???

I bid on a mobile phone which had a buy-it-now price of £150, it went to £92 & the reserve wasn't met & then i get a 2nd chance offer at my bid of £55. Obviously this is a mistake by the seller as they have also relisted the phone so would you chance your arm & risk your 100% feedback or be honest & tell them their mistake..?

Usually I have no problems with 2nd chance offers but sending an offer so much less than the BIN price doesn't feel quite right. Also the phone was not actually sold as the reserve was not met, so this isn't strictly a second chance offer, just make sure it shows correctly in your ebay before agreeing to anything.
As this could be a scam. make sure the seller has good feedback and has sold high price items before. If it does look good email the seller before accepting the 2nd chance offer and ask something daft, just to establish that he gets the emails sent to him via ebay and sounds 'right'.
Also, pay by paypal, I accept it is not 100% foolproof but it is better than other methods as you stand a better than average chance of getting your money back if it goes wrong.

it may have been a mistake! email the seller just in case! if it is ok then they will contact you etc!

It's difficult to be a mistake though isn't it? The seller would have had to log into the auction, click on 2nd chance offer and choose the amount of days he wanted to have the offer available for then he would have to have ticked which bidders to send the offer to. After all tthat he would have had to confirm this option twice and then would have got email confirmation that the 2nd chance offer had been made.
Also, I can't see how a 2nd chance offer can be made when the phone wasn't ever sold. The OP said the phone did not meet the reserve price in the original auction, so there was no winner.
I know there are options to use a best offer type arrangement now, but I can't see how it would be possible to do that by mistake.

Actually with hindsight Angel it might not be such a way out theory, if people can bid by accident, list by accident and forget to pay by accident I'm sure someone somewhere has sent a second chance offer by accident.
I swear sometimes I get so tired I could go through a whole day asleep and not remember anything until I wake up the next day <smile>
