If the OR hasn't specifically told you that you can use it, then officially it isn't yours any more even if it appears to still be open.

You would need to get the OK from the OR before you could consider using it.

The OR said they would leave it open so I could withdraw what was in there but he would freeze it afterwards, though he did say that he'd probably let me keep it but it would be upto the bank. I got my confirmation from coop yesterday that my account was accepted so was just thinking about using the lloyds one as a sort of "savings" one (yeah right :D )

Will check with the OR though like you say before talking to them... i did log on yesterday to stop all my DD's though which was lucky as forgot to cancel them and some were due out in a couple of days!

    Ok Waspeze. :)

It sounds a bit pedantic, but I had to check.

I'm glad you did! . . I tend to go rushing into things without thinking so it was good having you put that comment up there as it did make me stop and think!

    Thanks Fermi :)

I have pre-empted the DD's by cancelling them all now already...i've already had a few snotty calls saying did i know that the DD had been cancelled etc.. I had great pleasure telling the companies yes and hanging up.

Nothing worse than having more debt straight away after the BR...not good.

Hi, they literally mean no opportunity to go overdrawn. For example if I had a cheque book I could write a cheque and go over but if I could only get access to cash there would be no chance of going over, if the money isn't there I can't have it.

Can you just confirm for me that prior to BR you had a Lloyds acc and still have access to it? When did you go BR?

If what they mean is that the account is as you've described, then the woman you spoke to is correct, as that's what they did to me. When I went BR last year, they converted my existing account to one that had no opportunity for credit whatsoever rather than closing the account, so it's good to see the woman you spoke to knew her stuff. :)

I think where people have had big problems with LTSB is that they're incredibly slow to update the relevant departments with your details. It took months for me to get them to stop payments to my LTSB credit card - I stopped the direct debits, but they bypassed that by simply manually inputting my details & taking the money that way instead. They're also quite awkward about udating your credit file correctly.

Is it just me or are things starting to sound more positive.

The lady did say that if I had gone BR and then tried to open an account there's no way they would let me. She also said that in her experience things are so very different for BR's now.

Personally, think the way things are going more banks will have to change their views coz there is going to be a swell of us this year. Bet it get's to the stage where they are begging us to open accounts!!! you see, all those who haven't done it yet are still sinking but those of us with a (soon to be) clean slate will be much better risk.

    Does that make sense??

    Hi,

I would think that if there is one of the `big five` banks out there that were to offer a BR friendly account ( the Coop just have too few branches) then they would get a whole lot of new business!!

    Dave,

I know Barclays are seen as `BR friendly` but they are still very selective & don`t offer everyone. Isn`t it only cash card as well? Electron would be better I think.

PS got another MBNA call - he said he would ring again so I just said `its a date then`...he went very quiet!!
