Requesting of payment - year after starting Uni course

Not sure this should be here or in the sudent section.

I have been doing a HNC course via a local uni and though work, my employer have agreed to pay for this course at a cost of £3,000 (this is back in July 04)

We filled in the forms and Uni have accepted us, books sent and we started I think about Aug/Sept 04. In Oct04, employer gave us a sheet of paper to sign - this is to ask that if we leave before completing or set period after completing the course a certain % of the fee would be paid back. I refused as this wasn't brought up in the orginal meeting when the agreement was made between my employer and myself. We lefted it as that and it was dropped - it went quite..

Now I have been told, the firm as recieved a bill of the full amount £6k as there is 2 of us doing the same course from the Uni, 1 year after we have started!!! can they do this!?!? Doesn't the 6 month rule apply that a bill must be made withing 6 months on the date of acceptance?

Help

Mike

Sadly no, a bill can be presented up to 6 years. You were a little hasty not signing up to the employers request, as ok they left it a bit but this is a standard practice and why should they pay for you to then happily disappear in to the sunset at their expense?

Groovle tell them you are good for the company and you will sign the contract.

They tricked us in a way, nothing was said of the contract with the firm. My employer don't even know what the terms are that they tried us on. Latest I've heard is 3 years from the day we started at the firm!... so another 16 months to go :)

Moral of the story I don't want to stay now as things are starting to go down the pan here...
