Hiya .I need to keep an eye on what my dd is up to at the moment and to do this i need to change her password on msn. I was able to do this earlier this week until she changed her secret question which i don't know the answer to !!. Does anyone know a way round this other than threatening to take her pc away unless she tells me her password!!!! (plse don't give me a lecture on 'her rights'..thank you !!!!)
I want money..........that's what I want !!:j

There is software you can buy, I can't remember the name, but someone will.
It logs/records everything typed in on a PC.
That should do it, if you want to buy it.0 -
Why do you need to change her password to do this?
All you need is something to log conversations.
Or to learn to talk to eachother about issues.0 -
hade to admit it, but i have similar problems (15 year old daughter) my solution was just to block all IM apps on her PCUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

you can use K9 Web Protection to control access to instant messaging apps.
Very good and free!
For monitoring, I believe MSN 8.0 and upwards has a built in chat log which is enabled in the options. Not tried it myself but I believe it is there.
Alternatively, you could use a keylogger such as 007 Spy Software. This goes against the general grain of this site as most people try to avoid these types of apps, but they do have a purpose.
Sadly 007 is no longer free as it used to be. I have used it in the past (when it was free) and found it superb. Not the easiest proram for a non techie but it does do what it says on the tin!0 -
google for msn messenger password retrieval - loads of software will do it in seconds if you have access to the computer in question.0

or you can install msgpluslive which can log conversations to a specific folder that you choose and you can password protect the settings so that they cannot be changed/turned off0

can you not just ask for password , i told my kids they would only be allowed on msn aslong as i know their passwords, the choice was theirs;)0
