..and remember, you cannot convert an incoming call to an outgoing one by pressing a button.

But it's true, coz it was in our local paper.... and....

...the sister of the fellow who bought the duvet set from the man who pressed the button (and had to later sell his kidney to pay the bill), buys his bread at the same same Italian deli as my uncle's gardener, and he confirmed it was definitely true...

Be really careful coz a simple press could bankrupt you...you've seen these premium number diallers for ISP's...no-one believed them at first!!

That's why my advice is to never, ever, ever under any circumstances answer the phone.

Yeh...well thinking about it I know the sister of the guy whose cousin's friends mum used to work with a woman who knew that guy's brother's girlfriend who knew the long lost friend of another guy whose mums ex borfriends daughter once read that story in a paper..

But on a more serious note..haven't got the phonecall for the last couple of days and if we do we will continue to ignore it. Phone providor says it will take up to a week for them to trace it, but to be honest we have far more serious worries and will just ignore these calls if they start again.

You could have some fun with cold callers. I have to admit this story came from a friend of a friend of a friend of an uncle of a cousin of a neighbour of a friend who emigrated to the US!:

    Torture of the Telemarketer
The phone rang as I was setting down to my anticipated evening meal, and as I answered it I was greeted with, "Is this William Wagenhoss?" This didn't sound anything like my name, so I asked, "Who is calling?" The telemarketer said he was with The Rubberband-Powered Freezer Company or something like that and then I asked him if he knew William personally and why was he was calling this number. I then said off to the side, "Get really good pictures of the body and all the blood." I then turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to appear in the local courthouse to testify in this murder case.

I then questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call. The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in a shaky voice.

I proceeded to tell him we had located his position at his work place and the police were entering the building to take him into custody. At that point, I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away. My wife asked me as I returned to our table, why I had tears streaming down my face and so help me, I couldn't tell her for about fifteen minutes.

My meal was cold, but oh-so-very enjoyable
