The cheapest flights I can find from Russia to New York (May 27 - Sep 27 approx) are with Delta Airlines.
Anyone know of anything cheaper? Can depart from Moscow or Nizhny Novgorod.

Thanks for that. I had seen flights involving SwissAir and United but cautious about indirect flights involving two airlines just to save a few pounds.
Also, the departure time from Moscow is not good either as they want to take overnight train to Moscow,
Anyway, it seems that I have probably found the best deal, unless a Russian travel agent can find something better.
British Airways flights come pretty close in price but flying via Heathrow can be a nightmare - look at the debacle at the new terminal five yesterday!0 -
I'm surprised that no-one suggested Kayak. A quick search there gives BA as the cheapest, closely followed by Alitalia! For fifty quid more, it offers Lufthansa flights at sensible times, with just over an hour to change 'planes in Frankfurt each way.
Any joy from Aeroflot? Their trans-Atlantic flights seem hideously over-priced, but perhaps they are sold in Russia at more realistic fares. Anyway, they are the only people likely to offer through fares from Nizhny Novgorod.
(In any case, it might be worth getting a domestic flight to Moscow to save the long trek from railway station to airport.)0 -
Thanks Voyager. I had previously looked on Kayak and the BA prices (£521) are a little higher than Delta ($972). Also, the BA flights are not direct (going via Heathrow). I am not sure about the prices of Aerflot flights offered to citizens in Russia.
It is possible to get international Lufthansa flights from Nizhny Novgorod to New York (via Frankfurt) without going via Moscow (but these are expensive); no other international airlines operate out of Nizhny Novgorod.
Most of the internal flights to Moscow go to Domodedovo Airport but most of the international flights are from Sheremetyevo Airport so it means changing airports at Moscow. However, BA and SwissAir have international flights from Domodedovo.
There are flights from Nizhny Novgorod (quoted on OPODO) for £538 but that means changing planes (luckily, not airports) at Moscow and Zurich. These flights involve three airlines: Siberia Airlines, SwissAir and United. And, I am not sure if my friends in Russia can book via OPODO.0
