Audi Dealerships

Hopefully someone with experience of dealing with car dealerships can help me out here!

I'm thinking of getting a 2006 Audi S4 - however, the best one I can find is 200 miles away from my house.

I am prepared to drive to it, test drive it then buy it if i like it enough. However the problem is, I want to sell my own car privately, and as its a merc i dont think theyll even take it in part ex anyway.

So if i drive 200 miles and then buy the audi, my merc will be stranded with nobody to drive it back. I can't get public transport to the audi dealership for a few reasons.

Is it heard of or common practise for dealerships to offer the following: I buy the car, then they drive the car for me to my local dealership so I can pick it up from there when I get back?

Or is that not the way franchised dealers work?

Dealers will take pretty much any car in part ex, main dealers as well.

It will go to auction or go on the forecourt if it is good enough to try.

You will be very lucky to buy and take away a car same day from a main Audi dealer. Carcraft etc yes but prob not these.

The car will need to go for a proper valet and prep, they will tax it, need to see your insurance cover certificate.

There are car transportation companies or can you pay for a friend to drive a car back? Few pints/ dinner and the fuel should do the trick.

Alternatively, your local dealer may have some sort of Audi used Car link system where they can get the car down to you, they pay the other dealer a reduced amount and your local dealer takes most of the profit.

  • Get a friend to go with you. Insure them on the Mercedes for one day only (will be about £20).

Or, if you like the Audi, get Audi to deliver it to you. They can do this but I don't know the cost (will be more than the option above).

They will take the Mercedes off you but beware that what they offer you will be well below what you could get for it in a private sale.

I can't get a friend to come with me unfortunately.

So I guess their delivery service is my only option...?

if its a franchised dealer they will move it to another of thier own dealerships nearer you if this is possible.most dealers are moving cars all the time so you may only wait a day or two before it arrives at your local dealer (if there is one)

most dealers will require a deposit to secure this.
just ask them if they will do this for you,but when you collect it check it for any damage that may have occured when transporting it.

There are quite a few S4's out there. Maybe that's cos there are 3 in our village, along with a few R8's lol. but anyway, autotrader.co.uk came up with 116 under 3 years old...
