Virgin Credit Card

I applied for a virgin card and was refused due to what they said was the way i managed my account witn MBNA.
I have 1 MBNA card with a limit of 15k on it and an outstanding balance of £50 which i make minimum payment on every month because i hadn't bothered to clear it which i know i should. I haven't used the card for over a year. I also have a Marks and Spencer card with a credit limit of £7000 and a balance of £2500 @ 0% paid every month which i wanted to balance transfer and a barclaycard 15k creadt limit with about £2000 on it, i clear this card monthly and use it for daily expenses.
I do not understand why I got refused, i have a reasonable income a mortgage that I have never defaulted on I would have thought my credit score would have been fairly good.
Anyone got any ideas why?

15K is a big limit for a spending card, might be worth asking Barclaycard to reduce it which would mean you have less available credit compared to income, an important factor when card companies assess your credit worthiness.

It is known fact that those who have some MBNA card have low chances to get another MBNA card.
