Ive followed all the steps for cheaper home insurance and was pleased to see moneysupermarket.com showing a post office quote for just £89. When I clicked on to apply, it only saved certain information within the post office site and I had to re-enter most of the data again. Not a problem I thought until it then gave me a quote of £159. Why does moneysupermarket show cheap rates but then when you click through you not only have to re-enter the same information again but the quote increases hugely ? I then tried the next two quotes and the same thing happened.
The quotes on confused.com were genuine and I was able to click through without having to re-enter data and the original quote stood, £112. Better than my Tesco renewal of £177.

I should start off by admitting thaat I am not a fan of moneysupermarket, primarily because of the type of situation you describe. I suspect what happened is that you put in some details such as house value, postcode, claims history etc and you got a basic 'quote'. That probably excluded the cover you feel as important, and which adds to the premium. Examples would be Accidental Damage, personal belongings etc.
They hope to get you hooked with a cheap premium for cheap cover and hope that the main site upsells you with the add ons. In other words, you can't be bothered looking around further, which I'm glad you did.
