Has anyone used www.slideandfold.co.uk???

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had used this company and could recommend or say avoid them?

There seems to be such a big difference in quotes for the doors we want and these are the cheapest and also seem to have the quality we are after but its a lot of money to spend.... :confused:

  • we are looking for bifold doors and found this company. after hearing a few horror stories about internet based companies (not this one) I would like to know if you went ahead and used them, or if anyone else has. How can you be sure if it is a reputable company when you buy off the internet?

    Did either of you go ahead with slideandfold, and how did you get on ?
  • Having phoned up this company to inquire about delivery times,I was told 2 to 3 weeks for standard delivery at £75 +vat but for £225+vat I could get express delivery in 14days(3times the cost),I was then informed my delivery would take place on the Friday,the 14th day but the night before I was phoned to say the item was damaged and therefor could not be delivered until the Monday, the 17th day.but they only offered £50 refund on the express delivery.I have not got the bifold doors yet but I am now dreading if anything goes wrong.If you phone you get the same woman in sales,tech and delivery and she keeps saying sorry but 'they' say this or that,but you cant connect to them or anyone else other than by Email. This seems like good a way of overcharging customers so beware.
    PS Had to cancel the fitter as well, not happy

    I've used them a few times and have been perfectly happy.

    I don't see what else they could do in the above situation. Sometimes things go wrong. They've not tried to deliver a damaged product, and they're delivering on the next working day which is hardly taking the michael.

    If I'd have booked a fitter it would have been for after the delivery anyway. In the same situation, I would ask that they please make me the very first delivery so that the fitter can still come and start work as soon as they arrive.

    When we organise things ourselves, we have to account for possible delays. If you use their fitters, they have to find the time to fit and it's their problem. If you disjoint the contract between two or more parties, you have to manage the risk yourself against the potential cost saving. I say that as someone who didn't use their fitters either.

    Stuff happens. Delivering one day late is hardly a reason to join an internet forum and start slating the company. If the doors were accidentally damaged being loaded, what else could they do that would make you happier?

    Life is far too short for stuff like this.

    I have used them for our bifold door unsure how good of a quality as it was recommended to us by our builder as he had used them before. Long story short our builder who did the installation left us and when we tried to approach them for help/guidance we felt there was not much on offer, similar experience to Avenger2274.
    We did not face the delivery issue as it was coordinated by the builder but like Doozergirl suggested we always keep little buffer when ordering stuff via net, you just have to as there are so many parameters which can go wrong.
    Our family/friends who saw the installed bifold doors liked it, it was a wow factor but unsure that’s the quality of the door or it just the sheer size.
    Bit of advice, unsure if it was only applicable to our installation, the way our door was installed it shows gap between doorframe and the brickwork filled by the expanding foam! We wanted to cover that gap (showing foam) with some sort of beading, sildeandfold were unable to provide that beading, they suggested we look elsewhere on the net, we are still searching for complimentary beading!
    My real concern is that for the time being we might be OK but in few years down the line if we were to experience any problem then with their limited customer support, would they be able to hlep, it remains to be seen!!.
