Leeds Hotel close to Nuffield Hospital.

DH is to go into Leeds Nuffield for 4 nights at the end of May. I will be staying in a hotel while he is an inpatient. I can find a few hotels within my budget but am unsure about walkng distances. I need to be able to park the car for the time I am there as I don't fancy driving around a city I don't know. I don't mind a B & B or even somewhere where I have to get a bus or a taxi in. I don't really need breakfast but would prefer something other than a Travelodge as I have never found one with coffee making facilities.
If anyone with local knowledge can help I would be grateful.

Hi, I live in Leeds and when I moved there I found driving around it a nightmare so I appreciate that you don't want to drive around Leeds. I think the Nuffield is close to Great George street which is about a 15 to 20 min walk (at a slow pace) from the train station so you could get by without taking the car at all. I think there are several hotels within an easy walking distance from the hospital - http://maps.google.co.uk will give you a good idea of the distance between the hotels and the hospital. Hi
There are some Guest House/Small Private Hotels near Headingley Cricket Ground which are on a main, regular bus route which would take you past The Nuffield, (about a 10 min journey).
Butlers Hotel
St Michaels Tower
The Aintree
Boundary Hotel
All are on Cardigan Road.
HTH and good luck to your OH!!!0 -
parking in leeds is extortionate... anything near the city centre is over £2.50 an hour..
I find driving in leeds easy, but i drive round it on a daily basis and have done for 2 years now (job!), but for anyone who's never been there, the city centre loop is probably the worst invention ever!!!!!
the best bet is to get something a bit further out of the city, and then travel in, as you'll save money, than having to park in the city!

Hi there
I would say that for budget hotels there are couple of options that are within walking distance of nuffield
http://www.premierinn.com/pti/hotelInformation.do?hotelId=23821
http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fichehotel/gb/ibi/3652/fiche_hotel.shtml
I don't know what they're like to stay in- may be worth checking tripadvisor out for some reviews
As an alternative to a hotel I have heard a lot of people rave on about these apartments that you can rent- again not too far from the nuffield

Hope this helps

Etap Hotel Leeds has recently been built about 6 months ago.
All rooms are £32 a night every night.
It is probably about a 15 minute walk to Great George St or alternatively is about 2 mins walk from the bus station
There is a free City Centre shuttle bus that operates around the centre of Leeds that should get you within the region you need to be

The etap has had some pretty awful reviews on tripadvisor though0 -
etap is a long walk from Nuffield. I'd go for the Premierinn - IIRC they have parking.0
