    Answer Terrylw1 ;) ...

"One possible explanation for Ofgem's failure is its closeness to the industry. Almost a third of the regulator's senior executives have worked for energy companies previously. While nobody is suggesting foul play, the experience and cultural background of these staff could mean that sympathies, perhaps subconsciously, lean too much towards the industry".

I remembered posting a link some 18 months ago, and the full article is still available in The Times archive ..

    Thanks Meggsy.

Same as Elexon then, who actively poach "experts"...who all have their own loyalties.

I wonder if they get some sort of mysterious cash deposit appearing on their bills somewhere, or maybe they've gone the whole hog and come up with an individual tariff for them? Maybe for Npower it could be SOLDOUT18?

Unfortunately Ofgem are not on the govt. 'quangos to be looked at' list.

One reason may be that their cost to the taxpayer is quite small.

    .

Yes, that does explain it. Value for money, you get what you pay for and all that ;)

I do hope that they don't abolish Consumer Focus.

!!!!!! do these people have any idea what is going on on the ground? In the dispute which currently appears likely to end in a Court case which I referred to above the OFT were previously asked to look at the complaint.

They declined to look at the issues on the basis that they consider that it is Ofgems remit to look at the energy industry & they have no ability to over rule Ofgems inaction / decisions.

Consumer Focus of course have no regulatory powers & Ofgem are about as much use to the Consumer as a chocolate fireguard.

Consequently nobody protects the consumers interests as they should & Cable wants to make it even worse

According to what I read on the BBCS news section of the tv today that Consumer Focus is going. Typically of our pinstriped pea brains, have a bonfire of the quangos and get rid of the ONE that actually does a good job. Words fail me.

Ok, so how do we start a campaign to stop them doing this?
