I dont know if this is in the right place, but anyway. I did a competition on the internet to win an audi, so i did it all.
Today ive got a call saying im down to the last 100, so i thought ok great.
Then i get told for £9 a month i think, i can do euro millions, 208 enteries into it! for 9 quid!. So i thought con, so i listened and he kept trying me to do this, anyway i wouldnt as it was direct debit, anyone else done this or heard of it?. Send me the audi no probs though, just dont beg me to do something i dont want to.:rotfl::beer:

I had the same phonecall after entering the comp for the Audi and my other half got one saying he was in the top 100 to win £500,000, then we both got the sales pitch about the euro lotto, to be fair the girl i got was really nice and when i said no she was fine and just said ok thanks, bye now.0

Had this call too, but as has been said before, girl was very nice when I said I wasn't interested. For info, I think they get your details from Planet49 (through Quidco or online surveys etc).:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Be very wary of the Planet49 scam: it's a sucker-site operation created to harvest personal data.
Its main front-end is a pop-up screen that can unexpectedly appear almost anywhere: this morning, for instance, mine popped-up at IMDb. (Note: I'm running a particular research project at the moment, for which purpose my firewall was briefly turned off.)
The pop-up announces that you're the 999.999 visitor, which is either a fractional accuracy taken to its ultimate or an ignorance of the fact that in the UK we use commas as whole number separators.
Obviously, that's Planet49's first deliberate lie: you're the 999.999 visitor to what, exactly? IMDb? Of course not.
Planet49 then draws you into its net with a request that you now register for your Audi A3 "prize". But that "prize" is awarded on the basis of the following small-print conditions in Planet49's T&Cs, re-interpreted as follows into plain English:
1) You have no legal right to sue us for anything so sod off if you think we're scamming you;
2) You can have no expectation of winning anything because if we have a computer problem -- hardware or software -- on the day we do the prize draw, well, sorry, we won't be able to do the draw so you won't get a thing.
As to the construction of the deception itself (apart from the 999.999 visitor thing) the "winner registratiion" process is deliberately designed to disarm, in that all you're asked to provide is a name and email address and age. As that info is fairly minimal, it lulls the "prizewinner" into thinking they're not being asked to divulge too much in the way of personal data.
But that first screen means nothing. Having filled it in, another screen -- the real screen -- then opens asking the "prizewinner" for their postal address and home telephone number.
Anyone daft enough to do that deserves what they get: loss of personal data to God knows how many third-parties, list brokers and list re-sellers not only in the UK but throughout Europe.0
