Utility Warehouse

I have just been made aware of 'The Utility Warehouse Discount Club' which offers a combined gas, elec, water, telephone and boradband account at discount prices. Has anyone got any experience of using them?

    Welcome to the forum.

If you search through this Forum you will find hundreds of posts on the company.

It is fair to say that they are disliked by loads of posters.

This Forum is infested with UW representatives trying to promote the company, some declare their status, others don't!

    They don't give any "discount".

In fact as well as charging you for any service they provide at their normal prices, they actually add a fee of between £1.76 and £3 every month for being a member of their club. Membership is not optional!

Apart from supplying utilities, they offer their members other items (eg personal horoscopes - they can give you "a real understanding of your celestial blueprint" (their words) for just £18 including post and packing). Try asking Eon or even British Gas for that!

I have been with them before and didn't have any big problems whilst they were cheaper.
They got bought a while ago and seemed to become less competitive.

Personally I don't have a issue with their small fee per month as it's tiny in comparison to the bills. I don't know exactly what the fee is but £3 a month shouldn't be an issue for even the smallest flat (although of course it must be included in any calculations).

So if they are cheapest for you then I don't see any reason not to go for it.
But I'm not sure they are competitive these days since they got bought a few years ago.
