credit checked

Options
I was on a phone to a company yesterday where i wished to buy a product on finance, i said to the guy before we carry out a credit check, i wish to discuss final prices and so on.

as we were discussing it, he said he wished to take further information and i said i previously had finance with them before and he found the information, he went over to confirm these details but my mobile battery was very low so asked if he could call me back or i would call him back
He never did by them time i got home they were closed
I have checked my credit report this morning and he has carried out a credit check on me, does he need to ask for my permission before he carries this out?

As far as I am aware, if you apply for credit, then the people being asked to provide it can run a check. Where did you hear about the company/product? Normally in the small print it explains the process of applying for credit?

    hi

there has been a problem in the order.

basically we agreed a price of £1021. i asked the total i would pay, he said "the final price you pay is £1021."
To which i agreed finance. after he had credit checked me, the price all of a sudden jumped upto £1361.00. This figure being all before apr is calculated should i take longer than 12 month to pay. if i pay over 36 months it will be around £2200.

I've spoken to him saying we agreed £1021 and on that basis i allowed him to carry out a credit check on me.

if he had said it would be at £1361 before the credit check had been carried out i wouldnt have agreed and now wish not to go ahead with the order, but feel trapped with them as if i go to a competitor i may fail another credit check.

is it possible for them to remove the credit check? the company in question is Dell.
