Felt tip pen showing through paint

Moved into our new house recently and we just had to get rid of the disgusting lilac walls in the pantry, however they were lilac for a reason, to cover up a childs felt tip masterpiece which was barely showing.
My problem here, frustratingly, is after 3 coats of white matt emuslion it just keeps bleeding through, obviously when the wet paint is applied.

Any suggestions?

dab a wee bit of white undercoat over the pen mark and hay presto!! leave to dry then cover with your emulsion.
  • If that doesn't work, try the spray that you get to cover mould patches, it tends to keep the colour blocked in and then paint over it
  • Have you tries painting pva glue over the area and then applying the paint it may help.

stain block - paint or spray. works on anything, including water marks, lipstick, pen etc. available from diy shops. i personally pefer the tins of paint, as you cannot spray upside down, and it lasts for ages
  • Any oil based paint will cover the marks for good. Emulsion once dry.
  • Get some sand paper and lightly sand the wall and just repaint over it.
Or get a dark colour and then get a light colour to go over it.
I'm not poor i'm just skint
