Tesco Mini Cooler (merged)

Spotted (and bought) in the Tesco Extra at Bar Hill, Tesco mini coolers in white for only £14.99. They have a sort of iPod-ish look about them and come with a 12V mains adaptor so that you can use them at home as well as on the move. Will apparently hold 14 'regular' cans (I'm assuming that's 330ml).

Bar Hill had *loads* of stock - but don't know if the same offer is available elsewhere. Had mine on for a few hours this evening and has chilled a bottle of water nicely.

I just went waaay out of my way for one - the correct price seems to be £14.99, Unfortunately my box was pretty damaged - I've just got it out and it seems I have a customer return (I did insist that the box damage was probably a result of a return but they wouldn't have it)

I'm writing to t'management now. If I get it for £9.99 I probably won't tell trading standards.

I saw these fridges in my local store as well, retailing at £19.99, I was a bit reluctant to buy one as I couldnt see any information on the side of the box and there were none open on display, if anyone can answer these questions I would be very greatful.

Does it have an interior shelf?

    What are its interior dimensions?

    Is it noisy when running?

How long can you leave it running for?

What is the build quality like?

    Best regards

Usually these have a thermoelectric chiller rather than a compressor-evaporator system so are very quiet, or silent if they don't have a fan. I'll have a look in my local store tonight, I fancy one of these- it'll be handy for my beer beside the sofa, and for buying bargain meat in France when we do booze cruises:).

Just the one in mine, but my fruit lubing previous customer may have sneakily done away with another - it has two places it can go.

It does have a fan and made a fair amount of noise - not sure it'll be on 24/7 in my room, but good for my stargate-come-beerfest evenings.

How long can you leave it running for?

The manual doesn't have any restrictions on use - it'll consume a fair bit of electricity I would have thought. You need to leave it running for 2 1/2 hours empty apparently, though after 1 it feels pretty cool. I'm hoping the fan will cut off when it's cold, otherwise it'll be pretty much useless as a bedroom fridge.

What is the build quality like?

I'd give it a fair rating having seen some of the other fridges available (the six can variety) but not perfect - my door doesn't line up properly, but I'd give it a B+ for the funky control panel.

    It's Tesco's own brand.

It only has the one shelf, but as the previous poster said, it can go in two places. It also cools to 20degC below ambient as well as heat to 47degC.

Bar Hill had pallets of the things dotted around everywhere.

I think the build quality is pretty good, especially for £14.99. The 240v power adaptor would be worth at least a fiver of that normally...

Mine didn't have the word 'tescos' apon it - but it did have it on the shelf title. I'm sure we're talking about the same thing. Is yours (the 14.99) MC05?

I just wish the fan switched off occasionally - it doesn't and I'm sure it'll drain my car battery pretty quick.

So it doesn't have a thermostat - the fan will be going all the time, and it won't be suitable for keeping food in. That's why it's described as a cooler, not a fridge.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
