Help needed to revisit home ins. quote

I had a quote for buildings and contents insurance from Norwich Union and they were very competitive. I was not ready to take out the insurance so I made a note of the folder number to go back to. Now I come to take out the insurance, the website keeps saying "folder not found" even though the quote was quite recent (within a month). I phoned up and they found the folder straight away but the price would be higher over the phone so she suggested that I should re-enter my details on the website. I've done this and for exactly the same cover, the quote is £60 more (but still the most competitive).
I've tried clicking the "contact us" button but that never works either  .
I'm getting a bit peeved!! Has anybody else had this problem and is there anything I can do about it? I really want to take out this cover but at the original price.

I've come acroos exactly this problem before as well. I noted down the folder number from confused.com. When Ientered it manually it said "folder not found" and when I copied and pasted it, it was fine - exactly the same number!
Try it this way. Do your new quote, save it and you'll be given the option of putting it into a folder that you already have. Enter the details you have and with any luck it will put the new quote into that folder and then allow you to see the original quote.
Alternatively, phone back and insist that NU give you at the cheaper price as it's their website error that's causing the problem. If they won't do it phone back until you get someone who will do it.0 -
Good idea about saving a new quote but unfortunately it didnt work. I'll call them tomorrow and put my foot down - after all it is a free phone number!!0

I phoned them again and was told that they couldnt do anything about it becuase they have no control over website quotes etc. I asked to be put through to someone who could help and...to cut a long story short...they've honoured the original quote. Thats a saving of £80 - just goes to show that it pays to be persistant!!0

Glad you got it sorted. I usually find the CS people can alter quotes for you but then you have to be a customer first.
I had similar fun with them over a renewal that was about £160 more than a fresh quote. Eventually they changed the renewal to match the quote so it can be done. As you say don't give in.0
