commercial insurance after a ban ts99

Does anyone know the best and cheapest way to get commerical business insurance after being banned for too many points. This is for a friend of mine who is male 32 and needs insurance for a van to use as part of his work - He cant find anyone to insure him for less than 2 thousand and most places wont insure him at all! He may lose his job because of this - can anyone help?
Thanks lots : )

Is he employed or self employed? If the former, surely it is down to the employer to arrange the insurance?

If the latter, suggest he speak to a broker. They have access to markets in Lloyds of London for instance who specialise in higher risk motorists. These cannot be accessed via internet.
  • He is employed - his employer is trying to sort some insurance too however what he's found is so expensive he's unwilling to pay it. Thanks lots n lots for the advise - I will pass it on : )

what about traders insurance? i got quoted £600 fully comp any vehicle up to 10grand.

all he needs to do is buy and sell a couple of cars in his spare time to make it 'legit'
  • Ooh that sounds an interesting possibility - Thanks loads :D

Bit of a dead end really. Business use cover will be in connection with the motor trade, not his employers business. You'd be paying money out for a worthless certificate.
