What am I doing wrong?

Never done this before. I have downloaded some music to the PC and thought I had transferred them onto a CD.

It appears they are on the CD but when you put the CD into a player nothing happens.

What have I done wrong?

In all probability the files that you have downloaded are MP3 format, and the CD player is not capable of playing MP3s (or possibly it can but the CD has not been written correctly).

If your CD player is not specifically designed to play MP3s, you will need to convert them to .WAV files and write them to the disk as an audio CD.

Winamp classic (free) will do it and as far as I can remember, so will Windows Media Player. It converts from MP3 to .cda format for the CD to work.

Thank you both I don't think that is the problem i.e MP3 format as I bought the dowloads from Tesco and it gave me the option of CD. The problem could be I transferred all tracks at once using a zip file. Not saying this is the problem...only guessing.

Well if you've burned a zip file to the CD that is you problem. You need to unzip them first, then if you're player will play MP3 discs you can burn the MP3s to the disc. Alternatively you'll have to burn it aas an audio disc which will convert them to a format you CD player can read.

The Zip file is probably the answer.

But, not all CD players will play discs burned from a PC
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

also you can burn them as either data files (fit loads on one cd) or music files, and make sure what your playing them on will indeed take them.
