how deep would the foundations need to be ?

we are thinking of building our own porch , does anyone know how deep the foundations would need to be ? we have found lots of info on designs etc but nothing so far on foundations .

depends in the ground conditions. Normally ~3ft but you will need to dig until you reach solid non disturbed ground. It could be a lot more!!!0

Foundation depth depends on soil conditions and the proximity of trees. NHBC issue guidance which is relatively easy to follow. A prch if it is less than 30m 2 and the front door is still retained wont need Building Regs approval however so if you were to dig down to your existing foundations, you and dig to the same depth you wuld probably be on fairly safe ground given that your house hasn't moved!0
