is there any way I can check the owner of a vehicle? Reason I am asking is that there has been a car parked outside my house for a few days and I want it moving

well its a private street if thats what you mean. Its parked over my drive a little and therefore making it very difficult for me to get in and out of my drive

Phone the Police. We had one outside ours last Christmas. Police said it'd been involved in an incident and the insurance company are onto it and will be moved in due corse.
However, when a JCB was left over our drive at our old house, I phoned the company responsible and they said that legallly they can't block you in, but they can block you out...

Hmmm! I'm planning to leave my car close to my friend's terrace house whilst I go on holiday with her. I was wondering how safe it would be (I mean apart from ordinary theft). It's an old Nissan Micra. Do you think anybody will be getting it towed away as an abandoned car? I'm a bit nervous!
  • As long as its taxed and insured and not parked illegally any movement would be theft, so its fine.

As for the car blocking the OP in, I'd get a trolley jack under the rear axle and push it down the street.

As a private individual, no, you can't find out who owns it.

How about doing a bit of door knocking?

    And what's a "cant r"?

I've had this two times now.
Currently the second one languishes on the other side of the road using up some of the precious parking so neccessary on a terraced street so it doesn't bother me massively except when I can't find a parking space. Unfortunately it's taxed until the end of May.

The first one was right outside my house.
After about a month it ran out of tax, so I reported it to the DVLA and the local police. It was gone within a couple of days.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
