Hi,
Am very close to booking a cruise which leaves from Harwich in August, however I need to get from Birmingham to Harwich on the morning.
Any ideas of the best way to do this, preferrably the cheapest?!

Dont mind any forms of transport!
Thanks

Hi, I'd be very interested if anyone has info on travel from Harwich to Birmingham - all my investigations have drawn a blank! Almost as though Harwich is connected to the continent but not the Midlands!0

You could go Birmingham to Euston by Train - Tube to Liverpool Street and then Train from Liverpool Street to Harwich International.
Total Journey time about 3 and a half hours. Not particularly cheap though!
Other than driving their doesn't seem to be any other options!0 -
Unfortunately getting from the Midlands to the East by train is pretty difficult. You can either take the New Street-Stansted Airport train and get off at either Ely or Cambridge to catch a train to Harwich, or you can go via London. The Stansted train is painfully slow, so the London route is usually a bit faster but more expensive.
I'm sure I read somewhere that when cruise ships are leaving from Harwich there are extra trains laid on from Liverpool Street timed to meet the ship.0 -
From Brum to Harwich is about 3 1/2 hours driving. They have car parking facilities to leave the car in.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

If you have a car I'd have thought driving is easiest and may well be cheapest. Not sure how much it costs to park at Harwich but may be worth looking into parking somewhere nearby for free (on the roadside) and getting a local taxi there?Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams
