If you don't have any paperwork definitely report it as stolen. While it may not be at least there is a small chance that your insurance may agree with you, payout and solve the problem.

Ok thanks very much. Will do that now fingers crossed the police arent horrible to me again, still i will cope! Cheers
  • OMG Vee thats terrible!!!! I would definately report it as stolen, as they should have left you a receipt or something to say they had taken it. Otherwise, how are you to know it has been taken legitametly!!!!

I really can't believe Capital Bank have been like this with you. I had a car agreement with them a few years ago, and my ex took the car when he moved to London after we split. We were 2 months behind and I phoned them on getting the threaten of default notice and explained. They said they would chase him for the payments, but if he refused ultimately it was my problem to pay. He resumed payments after 3 months arrears and avoided default. He eventually part exchanged the car and paid off the finance with the new car deal. They were fine with me everytime I had to deal with them and I cannot believe how they have been with you.

I got up one morning and found my car gone! But it was only towed away (cost me £200). But you said it was parked in the car park. So I assume they must have taken it away. Not right at all.

Maybe reporting it stolen will also get them off your backs. You can get the money from insurance and pay off the debt. Right? Or isn't it that simple?
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

My Dad went to police station and whilst he was there explained everything. They called the debt collectors who told them where car was.
In essence nothing police can do. They werent interested.
You need a witness to report threatening behaviour and they dont know about illegal uplift.
  • Oh dear Vee, its not sounding good for you

I think the most frustrating part is that you have a fortune to pay and nothing to show for it. We are paying hubbies Yes car credit default at £50 per month and had £6000 to pay them with nothing to show as unfortunately he wrote the car off before it was collected so its resale value was next to nothing. He stopped paying his insurance too so wasn't covered through that either. The annoying thing for us was all the extra policies they financed him with like windscreen cover and bits and pieces I don't think he even realised at the time he was being roped into paying for. The car was only bought for £3000 but all the finance for the extras with associated interest soon added up and we will be a long time paying it back.

They are going to have to contact you now about repaying the rest of the debt so hopefully your future dealings with the debt agency will be a little more pleasant. They can't get much if you are on JSA. The CAB will tell you to make a token offer of repayment while your situation waits to improve. If they contact you either by phone or mail, reply telling them your affairs are being dealt with by CAB or whoever you end up seeing and then they should stop hassling you direct. Dont agree to any repayment offers without seeking proper advice first about your income and what you can afford to pay.

    Good luck

    Thanks very much Looby
Sorry to hear that similar thing happened but seems like you are on top of it now and moving forward.
I made an emergency appointment with CAB tomorrow, even though that's too late to stop the car going now maybe they can help with future repercussions on it[they are lovely so i'm sure they will ] . I will see if i can get anywhere on them uplifting it from a private car park although it might be more hassle than i can handle.
Thanks for everyones kind words and support it really has helped.
