You kind folks on this board have helped me in the past(thank you very much for the excellent idiot proof advice) Now I need to ask for your help again. My DH has bought me a new laptop a refurbished E system 4115C from Currys. Anyway it took me over 20mins to open it:o and although there was loads of vista stuff no user manual (I am sorry I know this is toddler stuff) I just dont want to break it. I have googled the model number, opreating systems, user manuals etc but have not managed to find anything. Also I think I need a ADSL router is this correct(we are on broadband via a BT line)? Finally(sorry a lot!!) our PC is on XP(and cannot be changed at the mo due to exam board rules) whilst the laptop is on vista premium our ISP is tiscali. Is it possible to link them some way. As you can see I am struggling so any help will be recieved with tons of gratitude. Many thanks for reading this and for being so helpful.

Thank you. No it isn't too exciting to be honest. I'm sorry that I did not explain myself very clearly.Yes I did want info on a router and am on to that. I was wondering if there was such a thing as a user manual that I could get to familiiarise myself with given that I have never touched a laptop before. I wanted to know if it is possible to have two computers on hte same modem but on different operatins systems but I believe it makes no difference(is this correct?) Anyway, thanks for reading this as ever.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.

OP i believe you can have 2 computers using the same router at the same time but with different OS, have you tried contacting the maker of the laptop to ask about a manual, personnaly if you've used a pc before then a laptop is the same, ive only recently got a laptop and i found that a manual wasnt needed, the only thing i read in the manual was about turning wireless/bluetooth off and other bitsNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
