Bought my car a year ago from a car broker (Listers).I phone them about the first service and was told no service was included. As this is my first new car, I thought all cars came with at least 1 year service. If this is right can anybody tell me what kind of service I need, the car is diesal and only done 7000 miles.
Many thanks Rob

No way, they dont come with a free first service. Unless you negotiated it when your first brought the car.

Most people will just go for a Full service. Depending on where you go it can range from £150 - £200.

Oh and btw, if you have AA membership, Nationwide Autocentres offers a discount.

A first service would certainly not be a full one.

It would say in your service book as to what is due.

I can only go on where I work, which is an independent and would've thought that you would only need oil and filter - and the car checked over thoroughly - ie wheels off and brakes checked - alot of dealers don't take the wheels off and only do a 'visual' which seems to me a bit lazy.

For a first service, price around 80-100.

Garages used to offer a "free first service" which was around 1500 miles and this was to check that the levels were ok and that the wheel nuts hadnt come loose in the first 1500 miles since PDI...

The car will tell you when it needs a service.

if its on a long life plan then the its very likely not to need anything at all, also new VW's have a service light that will tell you when you need a service, according to how many miles done, how long since last service, length of your journeys ect...
