BT Direct Debit

My direct debit is setup to come out on the 25th of each month but the money this month hasn't left my account, it's not even pending. The strange this is, is that BT told me today that I have paid already.

All the account details are correct (apart from mispelling my name again :rolleyes: - is Daisy that hard??)

Has this happened to anyone else?

    Have you double checked with your bank to ensure nothing is there?

    Failing that i'd get onto them as soon as you can just so you don't incur any late payment fees :)

    Yep phoned my bank and they said that they haven't had any request from BT and BT said they have my money already. Seems really weird! I've asked them to put it in writing so I hopefully have enough evidence to fight my corner if I need to!

  • I'm still wating for my DD to come out - thought it was something to do with the Bank Holidays!
  • Mine hasn't been taken yet either. It was due on 23rd March. Isn't showing as paid on online BT online though. It does say it will debited on or after 23 March 2008. I'm not complaining. Better in my account than theirs. Did think it was odd though. It isn't showing as being called yet on my online banking.

    If you're truly concerned about this what you can do is ring customer services at around 9 o' clock this evening and they can check the entries on your account and see if the money has been sent for. Typically BT will send for the payment 2 days prior to the date on your bill, however if bank holidays and things occur, it can be a little later. Sometimes direct debit payments will be suspended if there has been any issue in alerting you to the presence of a bill (not keeping with the direct debit guarantee) or if there was a problem in letting you view it. Either way an advisor could see the status of your direct debit and clear it up. 9pm is when they are quietest.
  • Mine's still not gone out and it's showing as paid online... mysterious but yes I am sure it is BHol glitch so i am not spending it just yet!

    Yep I think that would have been me :D Had my BT direct debit taken three times, two luckily refunded although not before they have taken me into my overdraft!
  • Wohoo, mine is now showing as being paid too and they haven't even called it yet from my bank account! :) I've taken a screen shot, but I don't think it will get me very far when they realise their mistake...
