Halifax Bounced Cheque

Hi
I have recently changed banks from the Halifax to TSB but just before I changed one of my cheques bounced and I got charged £39.00. I didn't pay the fee and now its over £200 and I am getting threatening letters and I am really worried. Is there anything I can do?
