The recovery of Little Pickle

Howdy all,

I recieved a pay rise from my agency and although initially I was lead to believe that this was a huge raise, under further cross examination (call me Pickle QC) it turns out that it's only a quarter of what I thought it was (long story).

Anyway, after talking to Mr Pickle, we have decided to get rid of my credit card and pay back my parents from our (his) savings (awww bless him, he's a sweetie).

So, although it's sad news that my payrise wasn't so massive, I have a payrise which is great and my debts will soon be gone. :o

Now we are going to aim towards saving for a home of our own and having a nice life.

I'm gutted for me and Mr Pickle as what I thought I was getting would have changed our lives big time, but that's just the way it goes sometimes I guess.

And stupid me for not getting all of the finer details sorted out before celebrating with a bottle of champagne.

Still, a little more money is better than no money and Mr P still says he's very proud of me.

I can't help but feeling a little bit sad though. And having to tell him was terrible. I feel like a bit of a let down now. *sniff*

Hey ho.

As Mr P is using his savings (he insists they are our savings) to pay off my debts, I am going to save ALL the money I can towards our home-to-be.

I'll let you all know what happens...

we plan to pay off the Credit Card and my folks within the next couple of weeks. He is lovely.

The trip was so amazing I couldn't put it into words. Weddings, scenery, friends, family and great food.

    It was just brilliant!

I am so glad that it was amazing!

When will you start looking at houses? That is so much fun! I love looking at places and imagining what I would do to the garden or where I would put a picture, I get too carried away to easily i think.

hmmm not for some time yet... we want to have a big deposit so maybe this time next year?

I can't wait, I think we're both fed up with our living arrangements now.
So you have your own place (sorry, terrible memory, me!)?

Is it really scary? I can't imagine owing a bank that much money! ha ha!
But time to be big and brave and buy somewhere!

I have my own flat but I think I will let it soonish and move in with OH when he finds a new home in a cute village near where I live.

I owe a bank a lot of money 153k in fact and its horrid but I manage and I am sure you will too!! Will you both move in together whilst you are saving to save the pennies faster?

hmmm it's hard to say what we'll do at the moment... I think the logical thing to do is move back in together, but as things had been touch and go for a while, I'm not sure when that will be.

We'll see how the next few months pan out. It's all looking great at the moment though and NZ trip did us the world of good...

we also went clubbing last weekend and we were together 24/7 for nearly 4 days straight. we had such an amazing time together. I loved every second, and I know he did too.

we'll see what the future holds I guess... :D

We haven't got around to paying my credit card off yet... will do it this week for sure!

That leaves only what I owe my folks which is £1,250.00.
I plan to pay this back at £25 per week. Obviously, this will take me aaaaages to pay back, so when I have a few lump sums here and there, I’ll pay a bit more back.
I hope to get rid of this debt by September as it’ll be my 30th! Eek!

As Mr P is going back to studying for a few months we’ll have to pull our belts in and try to spend as little as possible. I’ll be covering food and going out spends and helping him with his rent until he’s passed his exams and gets a new job.

It’s the least I can do after he’s helped me pay off my credit card – when it happens!! ;)
  • Glad to hear everything is going so well for you! Sorry to hear the payrise isnt as much but money isnt everything and you sound really happy which is great!

Cant wait till i can get a place with my gf, we will hopefully be looking the end of next year as we want to save a big deposit aswell.
