Switching away from A&L

I'm currently in the process of switching my Current account from A&L. My Salary went into my Premier Direct Current Account Yesterday, but from next month it will go into my new accounts. I need to keep my account open while the DD's get changed over etc, but I don't want to be transfering money into the account once my Salary is switched (other than to fund any DD's not already transfered). I believe that A&L have an underfunding fee, how do i stop them from charging me this? Can I change my account to a different type, but still use internet banking and switch card etc until switch is complete and which type should I go for? Thanks
