Automated Call From Lloyds TSB

Had a call from "Lloyds TSB" this morning, it addressed me by name and mentioned the type of credit card I hold with them. It asked me to enter some personal information, so I hung up.

The number they called from was 0845 3312320

Phoned it back, same automated voice, and it detected who I was from the phone number (which is strange, as I am not the only person with a LTSB account on that phone number), and once again asked me to confirm some personal information.

Is this legit? Or should I continue to ignore it?

Have you called LloydsTSB to ask them? That should be your first action to verify, or not, the authenticity?
  • It is them, you've probably missed a payment or paid less than the min. Just call them and you'll have it confirmed.

Call the number on the back of your card if in doubt.

I can confirm these automated calls from Lloyds... what annoys me is I'd rather have a written letter, I don't trust "cold calls", no matter how official it sounded.

Unfortunately they continuously ring until you ring back.
  • I can confirm this is NOT Lloyds - called customer services and they stated they would never call a customer....if they needed to contact me they would do so in writing!!
  • This is not Lloyds.

I had these calls a few months back and they lasted for a while. I called Lloyds and verified that it wasn't them. I checked my card statement to make sure there was nothing wrong as the message implied, and it was all fine.

Eventually they stopped but they have just started again.

It's some kind of nuisance scam. I've reported it to Lloyds who really don't seem to give a stuff, to the police, on the web everywhere I can. These people really annoy me.

Don't give them any info. Hang up or better still don't answer. Sometimes they call from a witheld number.

This may well be a scam, but Lloyds do use Adeptra for automated outbound calls for suspected debit card fraud.

This is definately incorrect. They will and do phone you if you are late with a credit card payment.
  • Indeed-my dd has dealings with LLoyds TSB and she has been getting calls from them daily as she has missed payments.
When the automated one comes it says "this a a call from lloyds tsb" or suchlike and this call is for "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
If this is:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx please press 1. If this is not xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxplease press 2. Now we KNOW these calls are genuine but, the have also writen-more or less on a daily basis-well, almost!
So many letters and calls its very annoying! However, the phone number was not the one the OP quoted. It was another 0845 number.

In these days of mass fraud it's pretty irresponsible that banks should use automated systems to cold call you and ask you enter personal info. Whenever we get bank customer surveys we should make sure we demand that this sort of thing is scrapped!
