...I'll see if I can then get onto a supervisor at CS and quote the 'ambiguity' in their T&C ...
Maybe I am wrong, but I don't see any ambiguity in their T&C. For me it is absolutely clear that there should be no fee - see the thread quoted in the post #90 above. CS try to make this ambiguous, but T&C are clear: no fee for BTs offered at special promotional rate you received when your account was opened.

Thanks for the advice Martin. The Lloyds TSB credit card BT was definitely free when I first applied, but a supervisor at Lloyds provided a recent date from which the 2% fee for the balance transfer was implemented, around a week ago, that is why the information sounded credible.

How is this site informed of changes?

I've just taken out an RBS gold card and activated it today. Enquired about BT from another card and they informed me that if I had an RBS or Natwest bank account, then there is no charge, else 2% max £49.

    Balance Transfers article:
Special Option for Natwest or RBS Customers. Also at 9 months 0% no fee are Natwest* and RBS* but only for existing current account customers who are new to credit cards.

You really do have to call a number of times to ensure of the correct information regarding no fee on balance transfers. But rather than wait in a lengthy queue and pay for 0845 charges checkout the issuing card website and locate the international number and dial omitting the 0011 prefix and if like me you are on 0p per minute the call will cost you less.

Phone again and ask for new accounts and you will be advised of no fee!

Does anyone know of any cards at the moment that do NOT charge a fee for BTs? Everyone I've looked at so far has a 2% fee.

Also as for SBT's I phoned Mint and asked about doing a BT into my bank account, as I'd read in an article on this site to do this to achieve 0%. Mint said they'd charge 14.9%. Has anyone managed to do an SBT at 0% recently?

    Thanks
