Thinking of entering comps - how many do you do?

I see there are loads of MSE'rs winning competitions regularly...(good on you & congratulations :T ) and I've been tempted now and then to enter something as I'm feeling sooo left out, but I kinda figure I'll never win so what's the point?

How many comps on average do people enter? Is it every one you see, or just some every day / few days.

I'm not sure I could be faffed with constant entering...but is that what you really need to do to get lucky one day?

Also do you always put your real details name/address/phone etc?

Any tips for a comping virgin? I'd like to win something too...just once. *sob*

I only enter the ones I'm really interested in, no idea how many - quite a few every day though!

I always put my real details - otherwise they can't contact you if you win! Different companies have different ways of contacting you have to be on the safe side. I have a seperate email to avoid any junk, although on some sites you can opt-out of junk/spam.

I never thought I could be bothered to enter loads each day, but once I won something I got hooked, and it's all worth it when you eventually win something!

well to be honest and very frank you need to have patience,and not to think i want to win this that and the next thing,enter a competition and forget about it,also, you aint going to enter 30 comps and win,i always get my mates saying oh gimme the link for the competitions they think theyre going to enter a few and win big,it just dont work that way.
you need to enter enter and enter loads,i reckon you average about 1 prize for every thousand competitions you do, it cheeses me off now cause i dont have so much time to do them,so am not winning as much as i used to,theres not as much excitment when the posty comes cause i know i havent enetered enough to win.
just go for it,fill in as many as you can a day,i was averaging about 50 a day,nor probably about 20 but i am pushing myself to fit more in,as i said i miss the excitemnt of not knowing whats comming next.

I'd say I do more like 80-100 a day. only ever for prizes I want.
If you don't have a lot of time, use the comp ending threads at the top of the main forum.

I enter as many as I can in spare time, but only for things I would want or be able to make use of - ie, for presents

I think I enter over 100 comps per day, of those about 15 are email ones and the rest are web entry. I dont do postal or phone entries

The more you enter the more chances you have of winning

Wins are like buses, none for a while then several at once

you can enter 100 and not win one or you can enter one and win. It is total luck unless you enter a tiebreaker etc and then it is slightly different. It is addictive and frustrating at times but totally enjoyable. You don't harm anyone, you gain lots of friends and, hopefully, will help keep your postman in a job as he staggers to your door carrying all your winnings. I honestly know someone who enters perhaps 12 a month and usually wins every other month! Good luck.

Not sure exactly how many I enter per day, but it can certainly become an addiction! I feel cheated if I don't manage to get comping every day!.
