F Keys not working on Tecra A9 laptop

Hi

I can not get my F keys to work, they were fine, but had to restore to factory settings , since then i cant get them to work, have pressed ctrl f1 and that reloads a help page, f5 works ok but nothing else, I have a toshiba tecra A9
Thanks for any help

    Precisely which keys do you mean?

    Open notepad, press F10 and then the down arrow - does the file menu appear?

    If so, then it sounds like you're trying to use extended function keys (<Something> + Fx) to effect a system function. If this is the case, then it sounds like you're missing a piece of system software from Toshiba.

    1. Visit the Toshiba website and install the latest version of any system software
    2. Run Windows Update until fully up to date

    No, on a more serious note, check the second function key i.e the FN key and make sure you havent enabled any queer key board functions, the best way to do this would be to hit the FN key and the HOME key and see if that solves the problem, if not try all of your keys in combination with the FN key to see if that will release the lock out, I have tries this on a Dell laptop in the past and it worked. Good luck

  • keys that are working are F1 and F5 F10 F11
