Laser all in one printers

icon1.gifLaser all in one printers
I am sick of putting ink into my inkjet printer. Have tried refilling the cartridges but it is messy and on my printer it usually takes a while before the printer recognises the filled cartridge!

Does anyone know anything about the laser all in ones? Are they cheap to run, do they just scan or do they copy as well, HELP

you do get copier/fax/printer in mono, so don't shy they should not be a colour version - bar the fax part. If size is not a problem, google cis (continuous inking system). Dont think the make them for multi-purpose machines though, but i could be wrong.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

The current issue of one of the main computer magazines (I think it was PCW, but not certain) has a review of four of the cheapest laser all-in-one colour printers, so it may be worth having an extended browse in WHSmith tomorrow lunchtime!

I only scanned the review, but I recall that they are bulky and quite expensive (cheapest was around £200) and, although the yield per cartridge is high, the cartridges are typically ~very~ expensive to replace.

Although they are coming down in price, they still (IMO) seem to be really only appropriate for office/professional use.
  • I have a Canon printer with 5 ink cartridges and they seem to last pretty well. Combined with ink from www.ink.co.uk at under £5 for all five I think its about as good as its going to get. I was doubtful on compatables but have been delighted with these.

Hey LeedsFan - How long have you had your Canon and do you do a lot of printing?

Reason I ask is that I've just bought my Dad a Canon MP610, which has 5 ink carts like yours. I had advised him not to use compatibles as he doesn't print much, and my past experience of compatibles (not in a Canon) was that they dried out quicker than originals with low usage.

If that's not true with Canon carts then he can save a lot of money....

(sorry to the OP for the thread hijack!)
