Requested SD, seller sent std post, item lost

Purchased an item off e-bay which didn't specify the postal service. Sent a message to the seller requesting Special Delivery and tro send me an invoice for the total amount. Received the invoice which included £6 for P&P. Item was sent last Monday via normal 1st class post. When I started chasing the seller he admitted that he'd sent it via normal post and he would refund the difference in postal charges. I then explained that I wasn't too concerned about the postal charges, it was the fact that I hadn't received the item.
One week on and still no sign of the package.
Should I demand a full refund ?

Assuming you paid by paypal start a chargeback immediately. It is the selelrs responsibility to get the parcel to you and paypal will automatically find in your favour if the seller cannot show delivery by an online trackable method like special delivery.

If you didn't pay by paypal then you should try asking seller for a full refund and if he is unwilling to comply you will need to go through the ebay dispute process which I understand will cost you £15.

There is still a possibility that the parcel is still in the system somewhere, it might be worth phoning your local sorting office just to see if they are holding naything for you.

Give it a few more days and Ask him for a refund. If he doesn't comply, Start a dispute with him through paypal, and since he can't prove that it has been delivered (i.e no tracking number), you WILL win your money back.
  • Yes, I'd ask for a full refund. Even if the seller sent it first class, as long as he got a proof of postage (which most sellers do these days) he can claim back compensation from the Post Office. For them to charge you extra for a service and then not deliver on that is just not on.
