Abbey have cut my overdraft facility... HELP!!

Hi all,
I'm a newbie here, and i'm in a spot of bother and really could do with some help. I opened a bank account with Abbey 15 months ago and for a while all seemed fine. Then i started encountering problems... eg going 3p over my overdraft limit and being charged 35 quid for the priviledge. I have found Abbey's interent banking wholly unreliable and have even found that i have not been able to do rudimentry transactions on line as there have been one or two "problems". About 7 months ago, i was denied access via the cash point the day after i'd been paid (another computer blip) which resulted in me having to walk 6 miles home as i didn't have enough for the bus for me and my two kids. Angry wasn't the word!!!! Anyways, I decided enough was enough and i opened a new account with Halifax (who are a breath of fresh air in comparison) and in the past few months have had no problem.
Yesterday, i received a letter from Abbey informing me that due to me not putting £1000 per month into the account they are slashing my overdraft facility from 800 to 150. Needless to say, that's left me in quite a tizz. I don't know what to do. I have just got off the phone to Abbey who have told me that there's nothing they can do and gave me another number to call (who incidentally aren't open at this time of evening!!). I have applied for an extension to my Halifax accout overdraft to pay off the other account, but i have been turned down.
As you can probably tell from the length and waffling in this message i'm panicking somewhat and any help or guidance would be amazing. Abbey are about to plunge me into deep doo doo (yet again) and i really don't know what to do!! I offered to reduce the balance on the overdraft by £50 per month (all i can afford) until the balance was clear but they were not interested at all!
HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

y should u get the top interest rate and/or high overdraft if u no longer bank/pay £1000 into the account??
u dont care for the bank so took ur business elsewhere so when they slash ur od amount u start to care??? how long since they told u to when u start getting charged??
sounds like u only got the extended OD on the condition of the £1000. have u stopped using the account altogether or just payin off OD?0 -
Oh God what he means in English is that you can't have your cake and eat it.
You used to bank with Abbey who provided you with an overdraft because of your behavioural score with them indicating a limit of £800.
As your salary has now been diverted elsewhere your score has 'gone down' and they are only willing to lend you £150 based on what is credited every month.
Will the Halifax not offer you an overdraft facility?
If not you need to ask Abbey for their financial hardship department who will be able to offer you a repayment plan.0 -

Thank you guys and gals for your help. The woman on the phone didn't tell me what that number was for only that i could ring it. To be honest i couldn't really understand what she was saying as it was a bad line with lots of breaking up etc.
When i opened the account i was told that i would only be eligable for the high interest rate if i put in over a grand a month, and i'd lose out on the high interest if not. I didn't realise/wasn't informed that to keep the account running i'd have to put that much in. I do still use the account but not as much as i used to!!
Thanks for the translation jonesMUFCforever :rotfl:0
