Buying at House / Solicitor

Hi
I'm a FTB and what to buy a house in England (Wombwell, Barnsley direction) at £115.
I'm in Northern Ireland and the Solicitors here will not deal with the purchase of property in England as the law is different.
Do all Solicitors charge the same amount for buying a property, or can anyone recommend one, as I want to get moved in asap, but don't want to be paying a fortune.
As I'm in NI can they do the process via mail, or do I have to go and see them?
Thanks in advance
Ciarán

I think you can do it without visiting the solicitor - I've never seen mine! Not sure if being in NI makes any difference?

They certainly don't all charge the same. I'm very pleased with our solicitor, they charge £220 for searches and £470 inc vat for the rest. Prices vary across the country. Based in the Midlands, they're in a different area to Barnsley, but it doesn't make a difference I don't think. We've used them to buy and sell in London too. I'd be happy to recommend them if you wanted to pm me.
Maybe others will give an idea what they pay? I'd be interested to know too! :nosey icon:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

u certainly can use a solicitor that u never see. tho there may be some delays beacuse of posting things it shouldnt be a big problem as long as the Royal Mail play their part lol
all solicitors charge differnt amounts so it pays to shop around a little
where i work we charge £395 to purchase (no VAT cos we are so small) the searches are £195 and environment searches £39.95, land registry searches are around £5-10.. dont forget u will have stamp duty and land registry fees as well once u have completed

Solicitors all cahrge differently, but in reality their fees always work out to be roughly the same. If I were you I would find a solicitor close to where you are buying, local knowledge will help you. Ask the agent you are buying the house from if they recommend any solicitors in the area. Normally, they will recommend a good one, as ultimately they want the sale to go through as much as you!0
